Make one object using basket weaving techniques.- Choose any technique (some example tutorial links below) at all and use relevant materials such as willows/reeds/pines etc. Make your object using one technique or mix multiple techniques depending on your comfort level.- The result doesn't have to be traditional basket but just has to use basket weaving techniques. Other than a traditional basket (Links to an external site.), it could be a woven planter, a toy or anything else.
Bring the object for Show/Tell in the class.
Talk about your motivation to make this object.
Talk about your process of creating it.
What elements of 'computational design' do you notice in this work? What overlaps/contrasts/opportunities exist for digital computation with such handmade craft? Were you able to create any motif on the basket?
I decided to build on the theme of my first project and continue playing with lights and shadow. This time I want to add more elements to it so that it's more playful and interactive. I made a rolling lantern which can also be considered a toy.
The material I chose to use was flat reed. I first started with cutting out several reed strips of the same lengths. I then divided each tripe into 6 portions and marked them with pen.

I then started taping them into circles.

I then started weaving them together and tied the joints together with thread to make it more sturdy.

I continued to add more and more layers and weave them together to gradually form a ball.
